We have been busy collecting and co-ordinating donated items of furniture, strollers and clothes. We have now collected plenty of children’s clothing but we still need to get lots of other stuff together. We are also searching for suitable apartments. We have found several that would be suitable but we need to get a firm date for when the family will arrive so we know when to take the lease out from.
Trying to get information and an arrival date is very challenging as both Canada and Quebec immigration cannot provide this to us which is very frustrating. Canada Immigration have told us that only the Canadian embassy in Beirut knows when they will arrive but when we have approached them they tell us they can’t tell us anything due to privacy laws. This is a very strange situation. We have also been in touch with our local MP Marc Miller and his office is proving help full in tracking down information for us and we are hoping that they can provide us with an arrival date.
Our fundraising is up to $1600 and the team are now looking to run and organise a fundraising event at the end of February to raise further money.
